We are pleased to invite you to the 4th annual Lunar New Year High Table Dinner on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020. Join us for dinner in Strachan Hall at 6:30 pm as we welcome the Year of the Rat with an East-Asian inspired menu and traditional holiday decorations.
Due to high demand, Pre-Swiping will begin at 5:00 pm and doors open at 6:00 pm. Keep your receipt to re-enter Strachan. Space is limited, arrive early to secure your spot.

Come celebrate the Lantern Festival with TCCSA to socialize with friends, eat snacks, and play board games! We will serve Tangyuan ('湯圓'), a glutinous rice ball typically filled with sweet red bean paste, sesame paste, or peanut butter.
Fact: Why is Tangyuan spherical? People believe the round shape of the rice balls symbolises family togetherness. It may bring the family happiness and good luck in the new year.

What is better than staying on residence on Friday and watch a movie just down stairs? There will be snacks, board games and fun! Sweet sticky rice balls also included! The movie we will be watching is A Chinese Odyssey Part 1: Pandora's Box (大话西游之月光宝盒) (in Chinese, but with English subtitles!) Movie should be PG-13 ish, so pretty SFW.

They are a symbol of wealth and prosperity for the new year because of their similarity in shape to ancient Chinese currency! There will also be Mahjong games available!

Mid-terms and essays got you down? Come celebrate the end of Lunar New Year with TCCSA, PoC@Trin, and Utoronto Mahjong Society! We have yummy TANGYUAN (sticky rice balls filled with sesame or peanuts, traditionally eaten at reunions of family and friends) and MAHJONG and KARAOKE! Mahjong istraditional tile base game that's super fun and the equivalent of the Chinese poker (It's how Kungfu Panda Po's dad won his noodle shop). We will have experts from the Mahjong Society teaching you how to play Taiwanese style Mahjong! Come join the fun!

Happy Year of the Rooster everyone! Come join the TCCSA and Trinity College in celebrating the year of the Rooster. This is the first time ever that Trinity College or any college in the University of Toronto has formally celebrated Chinese New Year - so come and enjoy the season festivities!
Do you like Kung Fu? Do you like Chinese food? Are you stuck at Trin during fall break? If the answer is yes to either of the above, come to the TCCSA movie night we are showing Kung Fu Hustle by Stephen Chow! It will be super fun and enjoyable. Bring your friends! We'll have english subtitles available (and honestly the translation is funnier than the original dialogue). Afterwards we shall have a literary discussion on the symbolism of Stephen Chow's Buddha Palm technique.
